Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism
Baptism marks the believer's entry into the Christian community. As the first Sacrament of Initiation, it lays the foundation for the sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation.

Through Baptism, we are freed from sin and welcomed as sons and daughters into God’s family, and as brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ. Through grace, we enter a personal relationship with God and begin a journey whose destination is eternal life. Baptism leaves us permanently changed—we are no longer the person we once were, but a new creation, dying to sin and rising to new life in Christ.
In the words of St. Paul:
"We were buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so too may we live a new life." (Romans 6:4)
Infant and Young Child Baptism

Parents can arrange a baptism by calling the Parish Office or stopping by in person. Please fill out the Request for Baptism form to get started.
- Schedule: Baptisms are celebrated on the first and third weekends of the month. Advance registration through the Parish Office or online is required.
- Preparation Class: Both parents are required to attend a single-session, pre-baptismal instructional program. We strongly encourage parents to attend this session before the birth of their child. Classes are held on the second weekend of each month, where detailed information about the sacrament will be provided.
Godparent (Sponsor) Requirements
Being a godparent is not an honorary title; it comes with substantial spiritual responsibilities. Ideally, sponsors connect with their godchild regularly in a caring, affirming way that bears witness to God’s love.
- Parishioners wishing to serve as Godparents must complete and submit the Baptismal Sponsorship Form to the Parish Office.
- A priest must sign the completed form to confirm eligibility, and Godparents must meet all requirements listed on the document.
- Godparents from other parishes must provide a Letter of Good Standing from their home parish.
- Godparents are also strongly encouraged to attend the baptismal informational session.
Baptism for Children of Catechetical Age (8+ Years)
Children aged eight or older participate in the Children’s Catechumenate, which is the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) adapted for children.
This is a one-year program that culminates at the Easter Vigil with the reception of Baptism, First Holy Communion, and, in some cases, Confirmation. Please contact the Rector for more information on enrolling your child.
Baptism Preparation for Adults
For adults who have not already been baptized into the Christian faith, receiving the Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in becoming Catholic. This process is called the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). For more information contact
